About
Bio
Samantha Levenshus is a drama writer and a giant geek. Whether it's a sci-fi future we've never seen, a historical drama that feels current, or a little-known part of our world, her work is tied together with thorough world building and grounded characters. She first discovered her passion for character and story as a performer and, after receiving her BFA from CalArts, she started her career in theater. While she now considers herself a reformed actor, her years of studying acting prove useful in every facet of her writing. Her play THE GRIMM WORLD, which premiered in Los Angeles in 2012, is published by Stage Rights (stagerights.com) and continues to play in theaters around the world. She has produced plays and musicals in New York and is enthusiastic about the fast-paced and frenetic arena of production which, coupled with her passion for writing, led her to focus on writing for television. She completed UCLA’s Professional Program in Writing for Television in 2015 and got her first professional writing opportunity while she was the writers’ PA on SyFy’s NIGHTFLYERS in 2017.
In 2018, Samantha was hired to script the graphic novel NEON FUTURE with Eisner-winner Jim Krueger. The project was produced by DJ Steve Aoki and was released in single issues beginning in the fall of 2018. The trade paperback collecting issues 1-6 is available for purchase on Amazon. In 2019, Sam’s dramedy series HOLY UNEXPECTED was optioned by Weimaraner Republic Pictures (Chloe Grace Moritz attached). She has also worked on Nickelodeon’s ARE YOU AFRAID OF THE DARK? and Amazon’s genre-drama SHASTA. Her sci-fi series REALTO is set up with 3Pas Studios. In 2022 Sam staffed on Hulu’s upcoming GOOD AMERICAN FAMILY set to star Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, and Christina Hendricks. She was lucky enough to stay on the show through production and wrapped in July 2024 just before the birth of her second child.
She is currently adapting the sci-fi novel GIRL ONE for television and developing a grounded time travel feature. She is available for staffing and can’t wait to be back in a room.
